Question Regarding Application Submission
Can I submit the Research Plan and References as one single document instead of two separate ones?
Yes you can, but please note the following: You should upload it as the Research Plan and then upload an empty document in the References section. This needs to be done as all sections are mandatory. If you do not upload a document in that (or another) section, the final PDF will be incomplete and the application will be rejected.

What do we do if two PIs from the same institutions request funding?
Only 1 PI per institution should fill in funding request. However, the BSF does allow more that a single PI from the same institute to receive funding. To overcome this seemingly contradiction, just describe in the explanation section the details the requested division of the funding between the different PIs in the institution, and if the grant is approved, follow this division.

I have important 'submitted' papers. Can they be included?
Yes. Include them in your publications list. However, we will not accept any copy of a paper that was not accepted for publication for transfer to the reviewers.

Would a request for less funding or less grant time increase my chances?
Not likely. As long as the requested time is consistent with the proposed research, and the funding request is not too large with respect to expected cost of the research, the duration and funding amount do not play a significant role.

Do I need to submit with a world re-known scientist in order to increase my chances?
The application is decided upon based on peer reviews. Experience shows that the quality of the proposed research and its impact play a much more important role than the names of the applicants. Yet, on some reviewers the name may make a difference.

I have listed a couple of names of people that I requested that the application will not be sent to. Would you respect this request?
Absolutely yes.

My application is a resubmission. Who will review it this time?
Our standard procedure is to send the proposals to two reviewers from the previous rounds, one supportive and the other critical, and we attach their previous reviews to the request to review. However, they are not always willing to review it again.

My application is a resubmission. What are my chances?
The competition is always quite difficult. Some resubmissions make it the second time, but most fail again, particularly those that required 'major revision' (N4 in BSF terminology). Experience shows that it is not enough just to answer the criticism in the previous round. Thus, think twice before you make the effort again, unless you have a good reason to believe that your present proposal is very different than the previous one.

Question Regarding Reports Submission
How do I submit science and fiscal reports for my grant?
Currently, this is done in two ways. Fiscal reports, both annual and final, should be submitted on paper, sent to us by fax, email or regular mail. Science reports, both annual and final, must be submitted online.
